Our History

The history of First Church Stoneham

Our church was founded in 1729 making us the first church in the Town of Stoneham. As a member church of the United Church of Christ (UCC), we are covenanted with over 430 other UCC churches in Massachusetts and 5,100 in the U.S. We are proudly an Open and Affirming Church. We believe in a God that is still speaking, a God that is all-loving and inclusive. We are a church that welcomes and accepts everyone as they are, where your mind is nourished as much as your soul.

We believe in Jesus Christ as the full revelation of God, even as we encourage respect for the religious and spiritual traditions of others. We long to serve God in the co-creation of a just and sustainable world.
