Overview

The music and arts program at First Church in Stoneham is vibrant, exciting, and diverse. We believe that music – with its ability to transcend both the spoken and unspoken word – is essential toward enhancing our worship in loving and glorifying God.

We offer a wide variety of music during our Sunday services with styles ranging from traditional sacred to contemporary music. All of the programs listed here are led by our very loving and talented Music Director, Joyce Simpson.

Children's Drama

The children’s drama program gives the youth of our church and youth from the community the opportunity to experience, through expression and music, various stories and lessons from the Bible. It is truly a blessing for all to see these children learn the Bible in such a fun and uplifting way. Two presentations usually occur each year - in the late Winter and in the late Spring - during Sunday morning worship service. Like Church Chimers, this is open to all children ages 5 to 16 and begins the third week of September on Wednesdays between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. in our church sanctuary. Church Chimers

We are excited and privileged to have an outstanding children’s tone chime choir named The Church Chimers. The children, ages 5 to 16, provide special music at several worship services throughout the year and delight our congregation with their beautiful sounds. Rehearsals begin the third week of September on Wednesday’s between 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. in our music room. For more information, please contact Sara in the church office.

Cantatas

Our Christmas & Easter cantatas have become a wonderful tradition here at First Church. Featuring our church choir as well as guest artists and instrumentalists, these cantatas are highlights to our Advent and Lenten seasons. The Christmas cantata usually takes place on the evening of the first Sunday in December. The Easter cantata takes place the Sunday evening before Palm Sunday.

Adult Choir

Our adult choir provides music during our worship services primarily September through June. Rehearsals take place at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings just before our 10:00 a.m. worship service. We invite all individuals age 16 and up to come join in and lift your voice in praise with us!
